This new digital case management system will help modernise the administration of justice in Aotearoa New Zealand. It will replace highly manual, time-consuming, paper-based processes, transforming the way people access and experience justice in New Zealand.Te Au Reka is a large, complex and unique programme, spanning courts and tribunals nationwide. We’ll be implementing Te Au Reka over the next few years and are looking for people to be part of our team.Te Haeata/The OpportunityThe Application Engineer role sits within the Digital and Information – Delivery team for Te Au Reka. The Delivery team is responsible for providing support for the initial design and development of the Te Au Reka service, and the overall success of Te Au Reka technical support and ongoing continuous improvement once the service is rolled out.The Application Engineer works closely with end users of the solution, the wider Te Au Reka programme team, and vendors to understand the requirements that allow the development and support of quality technical solutions. The Application Engineer is involved in the full lifecycle of the Te Au Reka solution.You will enjoy working in transformational programmes of work, be experienced in working with ambiguity and value diversity of thought while respecting culture and traditions.   • Tertiary degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience; and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Relevant industry and technical qualifications and/or certifications.

Work experienceApplication engineering experience in large and complex organisations, including:

  • Application development and testing in product development teams.
  • Programming language or languages appropriate to the Ministry’s context.
  • Contributing to the implementation of continuous integration and/or DevOps.
  • Working as a member of a product and services development team.
  • Communicating with a wide range of audiences on a range of complex issues.
  • Able to build and maintain a range of effective business relationships within an organisation and a wide network of professional relationships across organisations.
