The successful applicant will have an established record of excellence in teaching and research in Philosophy and will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, interdisciplinary curricular development, as well as student supervision and mentoring. Context The Department of Philosophy, School of Social Sciences and Philosophy, is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Philosophy, to commence on 1 August 2025. The primary purpose of this post is to contribute to teaching, research, and academic administration in the Department of Philosophy. The Department is seeking applicants with vision and enthusiasm, a genuine commitment to the vital roles of research and teaching, with an established record of research and clear potential for future research accomplishment, and a flair for innovation in module design and teaching methods. Main Responsibilities Teaching Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Department of Philosophy. Design and deliver modules in Philosophy as assigned. Deliver high-class and innovative teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and a commitment to the development of new, relevant, and evidence-based options. Undertake student supervision at undergraduate, MPhil and PhD levels. Utilise available technology to develop learning environments that are consistent with best contemporary teaching and learning practices, flexible, student-centred and accessible. Research Contribute to the overall international research profile of the Department of Philosophy. Demonstrate the ability to engage actively in research. Applications should show the potential to establish a strong record of research and publication in areas relevant to the position. Contribute to the international reputation of the Department of Philosophy through high-quality, high-impact publications and research.
