We have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer to coordinate and deliver courses in Foundations in Psychological Science and Sensation and Perception.Foundations in Psychological Science (PSYC107) is a core component of UC Psychology’s innovative new Bachelor of Psychological Science program, and focuses on foundational content related to psychological research methods and statistics. Sensation and Perception (PSYC209) explores how humans and other animals detect environmental stimuli and how the brain processes this information to construct an understanding of the world. The course coordinator will develop and deliver both courses, one in each teaching semester. PSYC107 will be offered in on-campus and distance modes, and PSYC209 will be offered only in distance mode in 2025.For information about the Bachelor of Psychological Science, please see A detailed course description for Foundations in Psychological Science and Sensation and Perception can be found and respectively.Mōu | Who You Are
The successful candidate will have experience in undergraduate psychology teaching, preferably in both design and delivery. A PhD is desirable. Research experience is desirable, but not essential. We will fully support you in building your research profile.To be considered you will:
- Demonstrate an understanding of, and experience in, delivering effective teaching methods that enable a wide range of learners to succeed.
- Evidence of reflective learning and continuous professional development.
- Expertise in research methods, statistics, sensation and perception.
- Expertise in curriculum design, development and delivery for both on-campus and distance delivery.
- Demonstrate an understanding of bicultural and multicultural issues in Aotearoa New Zealand society, including a commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi, and display a willingness to engage professionally with equity and diversity.
- Evidence of capacity to develop a strong research programme.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including students, faculty and other stakeholders.
